How to Care for Wheels

Installation Instructions

Before installing B-Forged wheels:

  1. Prior to mounting tires, Read the tag that is attached to the bolt pad of the wheel before proceeding. Important information regarding the warranty is listed.
  2. Next, verify that the wheel size, finish and offset (or backspacing) match what you ordered. Then test fit the wheels to the hub to confirm proper fit and clearance.
  3. Check that the lug fasteners match the thread diameters and pitch on the vehicle. Also, the seats of the nuts that hold the wheels are of three types: tapered, ball seat and mag shank. Should the shape of the nuts not match the wheel, they will not properly tighten and could come off while the vehicle is moving.
  4. Valve stems have already been installed on your B-Forged Wheels and are located at on the perimeter of the center. There is a TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensor) provision on the inner rim. If you are not using TPMS this can simply be plugged with a TPMS plug (available at reputable custom wheel and tire stores).
  5. After the tires are mounted, balance all of the tires. Improper balance can cause vibration during driving. It is also advisable to have the wheels aligned.
  6. Tighten nuts to the recommended torque of the vehicle manufacturer. If an impact wrench is used, first tighten to a low torque and then use a torque wrench to tighten the lug nut to the recommended torque.

IMPORTANT INSTALLATION INFORMATION FOR MODULAR WHEELS:

  1. Multi-piece wheels require extra care when mounting tires. Do not allow tools or machine contact with the silicone seal at the meeting point of the rim halves. Contact in this area may result in a leak.
  2. DO NOT REMOVE, LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE SMALL WHEEL ASSEMBLY BOLTS. All assembly bolts are torqued to 25 foot-pounds at the factory and do not need retightening. If any appear loose, contact Billet Specialties / B-Forged for instructions.

After the wheels are installed on the car:

  1. Once the wheels and tires have been installed on the vehicle it is recommended that clearances are once again checked before driving. When checking the front wheels, turn the steering wheel lock to lock – left and right.)
  2. Confirm that the tire pressure is correct. Low tire pressure will result in uneven wear and reduced capacity to absorb impact. This is especially important with low-profile tires.

Re-Tightening the lug nuts is recommended after the first 100 miles and at every oil change.

Modification(s) to Billet Specialties or B-Forged the wheels is strictly prohibited and will void the warranty.

Care and Maintenance

Polished Aluminum Surfaces

  1. Clean with detergent soap and water. Dry with a clean soft cotton cloth.
  2. If the polished finish needs to be returned to the original level of brightness, we suggest using a paste metal polish such as Meguiar’s Fine Cut Metal Polish or Mother’s Billet Aluminum Polish.
  3. Stay away from spray-on products and “safe for all finish cleaners”. Most of these products actually dull or etch polished aluminum. There is nothing better than the method we list here.
  4. For added protection, apply a coat of carnauba or Teflon wax.

Brushed Surfaces

  1. Clean with detergent soap and water. Dry with a clean soft cotton cloth.
  2. We strongly recommend that brushed finishes be ordered with our clear powder coat option which makes maintenance much easier.

Powder Coated Surfaces

  1. Clean with detergent soap and water. Dry with a clean soft cotton cloth.
  2. Please be aware that while powder coating is extremely durable, it is not bullet-proof. Spray-on chemicals and some car washes may use solvents that can harm powder coated finishes.
  3. For added protection, apply a coat of carnauba or Teflon wax.

Chrome-Plating

  1. Clean with detergent soap and water. Dry with a clean soft cotton cloth.
  2. For added protection, apply a coat of carnauba or Teflon wax.
